SYNOPSIS

The ancient Angelou civilization has ceased to exist centuries ago, and technology in the world develops rapidly. General Baal, the head of the militaristic Garlyle Forces, organizes an excavation of ancient ruins, apparently for philanthropic reasons. Meanwhile, Justin, a young boy from the nearby town of Parm, decides to investigate the ruins in search of the Spirit Stone, an artefact that once belonged to his missing father. A mysterious holographic image tells him that he should travel to faraway lands to discover the stone's true power, and he embarks on the most dangerous adventure of his life without hesitation.

Grandia is a Japanese-style role-playing game. The characters are represented by 2D sprites which are moved around over 3D backgrounds in towns and dungeons. The game makes use of anime-style cutscenes to advance the story. Combat is initiated by coming into contact with enemies on the screen, rather than through random battles. Battles occur in pseudo-real-time, using an 'IP Gauge' to determine when a character takes action. Striking at the right time or with the right ability can even delay or cancel an enemy's turn.

The characters in the game gradually advance in level as they gain experience points for killing monsters. Characters also gain experience based on the weapon (e.g. sword, mace, whip, etc.) or magic (e.g. fire, water, etc.) that they use, powering up their spells and learning new ones from continuous usage. There are a large number of spells, weapons, and other items to use throughout the game.

DISC QUALITY

Our reproduction games are burned on high-quality media, as determined by the ratings of the storage media industry. By using high-quality media, your game will play with increased reliability (especially with old reading lasers) and will have man more replays before the disc wears out.

LONG BOX QUALITY

We use only new OEM-style long boxes. The acrylic cover is made of a less glossy material than the original but is less prone to cracking as a result. Regardless, they look remarkably similar and are of the same dimensions as the stock cases.

REPRODUCTION ART/INSERTS

Unlike many reproductions games we've gotten in the past, we use only high-quality, thick-stock (weight) photo paper for the back and spine (contained in the see-through acrylic case.

REPRODUCTION MANUAL

Our Saturn reproduction manuals start with a heavy-weight cover like the originals and utilize glossy pages, again like the originals. We utilize scanned copies of the originals for North American titles, and create custom manuals for fan-translated and homebrew titles.

QUALITY CONTROL

We test every single disc we create on stock Sega Saturn hardware using Pseudo Saturn Kai loader before shipping out. Some other shops only check the disc image burned properly via the computer disc burner without checking on real hardware. This results in a lot of burn imperfections going unnoticed until in the customer's hands.

LEGALITY OF REPRODUCTION DISCS

Sega Replay does not sell game ROMs but provide free backup copies for games preservation in accordance with PUBLIC LAW 100-667—NOV. 16, 1988 and other related copyright laws. Additionally, by providing you a reproduction, or "backup copy" of an original Sega Dreamcast disc, we assume you own an original, commercially-produced copy of the title and are seeking a backup copy as a means of preserving your original software due to the limited amount of times a disc can be played before wearing out. Sega Replay only charges for the material, time, and effort to create your product, never the game code.

REQUIRED TO PLAY DISCS

By purchasing a backup reproduction disc, you are assuming responsibility for owning some sort of boot loader which allows you to play these type of discs. We recommend Pseudo Saturn Kai. If you do not have this cartridge, you may purchase one from our store. Regardless of where you obtain such a device, be aware that backup games will not run on an OEM Sega Saturn without such a device.
