DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIR SERVICE

With this service, we will troubleshoot your console and provide a solution when we’ve determined the cause. Due to the nature of electronics, this may require several steps, but we’ll clearly explain our findings, solution(s), and costs prior to doing any work. If you decide not to go with the repair, or we are unable to repair it, you will not be charged additional repair fees, only the $20 troubleshooting fee and return shipping.

NOTE: Please read this listing in its entirety so you fully understand this process.

Service Example – The console will not power on. The customer ships the unit to us at their expense. We examine the unit for $20 (non-refundable) and discover the power supply board is non-operational. The customer also pays a $20 return-shipping fee up front (non-refundable). We notify the customer of our findings and indicate the exact cost for parts and labor to repair the console (with options for new or used parts). The customer replies for us to go ahead with the repair using new parts. The labor is $20 and the part is $25. We send the bill to the customer. Once the customer pays the $45 cost, we repair the console and professionally package and insure the hardware for return shipping. Since the customer paid for return shipping up front, there are no further fees.

EXPLANATION OF COSTS

SHIPPING THE HARDWARE – Shipping the hardware to Sega Replay is the responsibility of the customer. Sega Replay does not accept responsibility for hardware damaged prior to shipping. We highly recommend that you purchase insurance or use a shipping service with adequate insurance included. We also recommend taking a picture of the console from different angles prior to shipping in the event you need to file an insurance claim.

DROP-OFF – If you live in the vicinity of Springfield, IL, we can arrange for a drop off of the hardware and/or pickup at no extra charge.

RETURN SHIPPING – We charge a flat rate of $20 which includes shipping, insurance, professional packing, and the liability of any issues which might occur in the return shipping. Should the hardware become damaged or lost during the return trip, we will file the insurance claim for you and refund the claimed value or replace the unit.

TROUBLESHOOTING FEE – The $20 troubleshooting fee is a non-refundable one-time charge that covers our time and effort to disassemble and test the hardware to determine the issues present.

REPAIR FEE – This fee varies depending upon the complexity of the repair but is capped at $50. We will always inform you of the proposed repair fee when we send our diagnosis. See below for common repair fees.

PARTS FEE – This fee will vary from part to part but we will always inform you up front. See below for common parts fee costs.

Customer Supplied Components: No warranty offered.

Note: Should a component fail within the warranty window, contact us first. The user will be responsible for return shipping/insurance, but Sega Replay will replace the component free of charge and will cover the return shipping costs.

TIME TO REPAIR

There are many variables in diagnosing and repairing a console which make it difficult to give a standard time to complete a repair order. Depending upon our current backlog, complexity of the service, and availability of parts, the worst-case-scenario is up to 90 days, however, most should be completed within 30 days.

RETRO-BRITING

We have a lot of experience retro-briting consoles for reselling with great results. However, each console has a unique history and we cannot guarantee the hardware will be perfect when completed, only substantially improved. Furthermore, as we cannot control the environment of the hardware, nor the rate of deterioration of the plastics, we do not warrant this service.
